We make awards and plaques with mahogany from well-managed forests. A favorite of American craftspeople and furniture makers since the mid-18th century, mahogany has long been appreciated for its workability and durability. Mahogany’s dense, straight grain and dark red-brown hue create a smooth, naturally glossy surface.
Since we launched our business and became an FSC®-certified chain-of-custody provider in 2002, mahogany has been the only tropical hardwood in our collection. We had originally committed to only using domestic hardwoods. However, we were persuaded to carry Central American mahogany after a lengthy conversation with forest managers and conservationists from the region, who convinced us that we could support indigenous rainforest communities by providing them with a market alternative to illegal logging.
All our mahogany products are made with wood imported from well-managed forests, such as those in the Maya Biosphere Reserve.
