Meaningful Work
Opportunities to Thrive

Rivanna began in 2001 with a mission as practical as it was hopeful: to create living-wage jobs for refugees rebuilding their lives—and to build a company grounded in care for both community and planet.
We didn’t set out to make awards. But when a customer asked, we welcomed the opportunity and discovered real joy in the process of recognition
Today, that spirit remains. Every product we make reflects the skill, creativity, and resilience of the people who craft it. Our team brings a rich variety of experiences, languages, and traditions to our work—strengths that shape both our process and our culture.
Our customers, too, are part of this story. Their ideas challenge us to grow, to design better, and to hold ourselves to the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility—recognizing that true achievement means caring for both people and the places we all call home.
We set out to create a safe, equitable workplace where everyone is welcome and has the opportunity to learn—or hone—their woodworking skills. Awards came later, but quickly became a joyful, purpose-filled craft. Designing and making each piece is more than work; it’s a way to honor achievement while building something lasting together.
Our customers and partners challenge us to grow. With their support, we’ve expanded our skills, improved our processes, and raised our standards—ensuring every product reflects the environmental and social values we share.
“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”
— Theodore Roosevelt
