Meaningful Work, Local Impact

Our Commitment to Community

Built on opportunity, guided by gratitude.

At Rivanna, we believe that work done well can do good. From the beginning, we set out to build a company where meaningful jobs, respect for craft, and care for the planet come together. Our approach is simple: hire people who are ready to work, provide the training they need to succeed, and create an environment where every contribution matters.

We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and our history of hiring refugees. Over the years, many of the individuals who have shaped our products—and our company—have come to the U.S. seeking safety, stability, and the chance to rebuild their lives. Their skill, creativity, and resilience have helped define who we are.

This model isn’t charity. It’s good business—and it has worked exceptionally well for us.

Giving Back: Supporting Community and Planet

We donate more than 1% of our annual sales to nonprofit organizations, including many through the 1% for the Planet network. Our in-kind donation program, Awards for All, provides free awards to nonprofits and public schools working toward social or environmental change.

Each quarter, our team votes on local projects they most want to support—because we believe giving works best when it reflects the interests and passions of the people who make our company thrive.

Encouraging Service

We offer each team member three days of paid community service leave every year for volunteer work. We also track volunteer hours and actively encourage engagement with local organizations and initiatives.

Speaking Up Where It Matters

As an employer of refugees and newcomers, we’ve seen firsthand the strength and determination it takes to rebuild a life from scratch. We support fair policies that make these opportunities possible.

We also advocate for climate action—because environmental degradation and climate change often hit hardest in communities with the fewest resources.

Our Guiding Principle

"We are committed to reducing inequality, lowering poverty, creating a healthier environment, strengthening communities, and expanding access to high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose. That commitment guides everything we do—from how we hire to how we give."
